These baked ribs are so easy to prepare and they are perfect as a main for dinner or as finger foods for a party. They are delicious and full of flavour and if you love ribs then you will love this recipe.

    Honey BBQ Ribs

These ribs are sweet and slightly sticky and they’re perfect for any occasion. Though this recipe is for baked ribs, during the summer I place them on the outside grill and they never disappoint.

The ribs are slowed cooked in the oven for 2 hours to produce a tender succulent meat that easily comes off the bone. I have experimented with different seasonings and marinades for ribs and this recipe is definitely my favourite.

I usually serve these ribs as a main with a potato salad, pasta salad or corn on the cob and they taste great together. You can also serve as part of a buffet at a party or BBQ and I’m sure you will impress your guests.

Ingredients for Easy Baked Honey BBQ Spare Ribs

    • 1.5kg pork ribs – I use free range spare ribs.
    • 1 teaspoon salt – you can use more or less.
    • 1 teaspoon black pepper – I use coarse black pepper..
    • 2 teaspoon paprika – you can use ordinary or smoked paprika.
    • 2 teaspoon ground ginger – ground ginger works better than fresh for this recipe.
    • 1 teaspoon sage – you can use oregano instead.
    • 2 teaspoon garlic powder – or garlic granules.
    • 2 teaspoon onion powder – or onion granules.
    • 2 tablespoon olive oil – you can use sunflower or any oil of choice.
    • 2 tablespoon BBQ sauce – use good quality BBQ sauce.
    • 1 tablespoon soy sauce – I use reduced salt soy sauce.

How to Make Easy Baked Honey BBQ Spare Ribs

    1. Add your cleaned ribs to a large zip lock bag or large bowl. Add the salt, black pepper, paprika, ground ginger, sage, garlic powder and onion powder. Rub it into the meat ensuring the meat is fully coated then set aside for a minute.

    2. To a smaller bowl, add the olive oil, BBQ sauce, soy sauce and honey. Mix them together then pour onto the seasoned ribs. Ensure you fully coat the meat with the marinade. Lock the bag or cover the bowl if you are using and refrigerate for around 6 hours or overnight.

    3. When you are ready to cook the meat, preheat the oven to gas mark 5/375oF/190oC and lightly grease a baking tray. Place the ribs onto the baking tray and cover with foil. Bake for 1 hour and 45 minutes then remove the foil and cook for another 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.

    Recipe Tips

    • I cook these ribs for around 2 hours. If you find the ribs browning to quickly then slightly reduce the oven tempertaure.
