This recipe is for a prawn stir fry with tender stem broccoli which is honestly one of the quickest and easiest meals that you could ever make. You can have this recipe ready in less than 20 minutes so it is perfect if you have limited time on your hands.

You can make this recipe whether or not you follow a low carb diet. If you follow a low carb diet then you can pair this recipe with some cauliflower rice or even just enjoy the recipe as it is. If you don’t follow a low carb diet and want to enjoy it as a balanced meal then pair it with some brown rice or egg noodles.

As the title says this prawn stir fry includes sesame and ginger. The sesame flavours come from using sesame oil and sesame seeds in the recipe which goes perfect with the flavour of the ginger. This stir fry is so delicious and is an example of how healthy eating can still be tasty.

Ingredients for Sesame Ginger Broccoli Prawn Stir Fry

    • 200g tender stem broccoli
    • 2 tablespoon sesame oil
    • 1 lemon (juiced)
    • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
    • 200g king prawns
    • ½ teaspoon black pepper
    • ¾ teaspoon garlic granules (powder)
    • ¾ teaspoon onion granules (powder)
    • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
    • ½ medium brown onion (chopped)
    • 1 small piece ginger (finely chopped)
    • 1 garlic clove (finely chopped)
    • ½ red bell peppers (sliced)
    • 2 teaspoon sesame seeds

How to Make Sesame Ginger Broccoli Prawn Stir Fry

    1. Place a pot of water on a high heat. Once the water is boiling place the tender stem broccoli into the water for 2 minutes. Strain using a colander and set aside.

    2. In a small bowl, add and mix the sesame oil, lemon juice and soy sauce. Set aside. Remove any excess water on the prawns by patting them with a kitchen paper towel then season with black pepper, garlic granules and onion granules.

    3. Add the sunflower oil to a frying pan and place on a medium to high heat. Once the oil is sizzling, add the prawns to the pan and cook for 3 - 4 turning frequently. Remove from the frying pan using a slotted spoon and set aside.

    4. To the same pan, add the onions, ginger and garlic and cook for 2 minutes. Add the red bell peppers, tender stem broccoli and cook for another 2 minutes. Pour on the mixed sesame oil, lemon juice and soy sauce and then add the prawns back to the pan. Stir everything together and serve immediately.

    Recipe Tips

    • Though I use tender steam broccoli, you can also use normal broccoli if preferred.
    • I use sunflower oil to cook the prawns and vegetables but you can use any oil of choice.
    • If you don’t have any ginger, you can use ground ginger but the flavours will not be as strong.
    • In some countries, king prawns as they are known in the UK are also known as shrimp.
