If you’re looking for a tasty way to enjoy chicken then you can try these baked honey soy chicken thighs. They go perfect with rice or mashed potatoes and they’re so easy to prepare.

    Honey soy chicken thighs

This is one of my favourite recipes and it’s always a hit with my family. Chicken thighs are great because they are always juicy and succulent. I do love chicken breast too but certain recipes just taste better when you use chicken thighs.  For this these baked honey soy chicken thighs, I use thighs on the bone which produces an extra flavoursome chicken.

This recipe uses easy simple ingredients most of which are pantry staples so no need for any expensive ingredients. It is perfect as a mid-week meal though great for the weekend too and it’s a dish the whole family will love.

Ingredients for Honey Soy Chicken Thighs

Please find the full list of ingredients and quantities in the recipe card at the end of the post.

    • Chicken – I use chicken thighs. You can use breasts and cook it for less time.
    • Seasonings – salt (optional), black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, ground ginger, parsley.
    • Marinade – honey, soy sauce and sesame oil.
    • Garnish – sesame seeds.
Seasoned chicken in bowl and baking dish.

How to Make Honey Soy Chicken Thighs

    1. If you do so, rinse chicken and pat dry with kitchen towel. Remove the skins from the chicken thighs and trim off any extra fat on the chicken. Add the chicken to a bowl and season with salt, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, ground ginger and parsley. Mix the seasoning into the chicken to fully coat then set the bowl aside.

    2. To a smaller bowl, add and mix together the honey, soy sauce and sesame oil then pour it onto the seasoned chicken. Mix in to coat the chicken then cover the bowl and place in the fridge for around 4 hours or overnight (optional).

    3. When you are ready to bake, preheat the oven gas mark 7/425oF/220oC/200oC fan. Add the chicken to a baking dish and bake in the oven for 50 – 60 minutes turning the chicken thighs over halfway through. Once fully cooked, the internal temperature should be around 85oC/185oF. Allow to stand for 10 minutes then serve the chicken and the marinade sauce with your favourite side dish.

      Recipe Tips

      • For more flavour, I buy my chicken thighs with the skin and on the bone and just remove the skin but you can use skinless boneless thighs. If you use skinless and boneless thighs then they will cook in around 25 minutes.
      • I remove the skin because it reduces the fat and calories in the chicken but leave them on if you wish.
      • The measurements for the seasonings can be adapted to your liking.
      • The nutrition information below is based on the skins being removed from the chicken. Please note that the calories will be higher if you leave the skins on.
