Try these delicious mouth-watering honey garlic prawns with a buttery flavour served with a sweet garlicky sauce. Serve as a quick main dish perfect for anytime of the week.

    Honey Garlic Prawns

I honestly feel like you can include honey in almost any recipe and it will taste great. These prawns are one of the many dishes with honey that I love to cook. Prawns are definitely one of my favourite protein sources and pairing it with honey just makes them extra good.

This dish can be served for lunch or dinner and goes perfectly with rice or noodles. I tend to mostly serve it with rice and avocados for a healthy balanced meal.

The prawns are cooked in a little browned butter to give it a slightly charred look and flavour so not only do these prawns taste good but their beautiful colour is also pleasing on the eye. You can have this dish ready in under 10 minutes so if you have little time on your hands and want to make something tasty then give these prawns a try.

Ingredients for Buttery Prawns in Honey Garlic Sauce

    • Prawns – use king prawns also known as shrimp.
    • Seasonings – salt, black pepper and paprika.
    • Honey – I use pure clear honey.
    • Soy sauce – I use reduced sodium soy sauce.
    • Lemon juice – squeezed from a fresh lemon.
    • Butter – use any butter.
    • Garlic – fresh garlic.
    • Ginger – use fresh root ginger.
    • Parsley – to garnish

How to Make Buttery Prawns in Honey Garlic Sauce

    1. Devein the prawns and rinse. Pat the prawns dry with kitchen paper towels and sprinkle on the salt, black pepper and paprika then set aside. In a small bowl mix together the honey, soy sauce and lemon juice and set aside.

    2. Place a frying pan on a high heat and add the butter. Once the butter has melted and slightly browned, add the prawns in a single layer. Cook for 1 - 2 minutes then turn them and cook for 1 -2 minutes. The cooking time will be dependent on the size of your prawns. Remove them from the pan and set aside. It doesn’t matter if the prawns don’t fully cook as they will continue to cook when they are added back to the pan later.

    3. To the pan you removed the prawns from, add the chopped garlic and ginger and cook on a medium heat for 3 - 4 minutes. Pour the sauce into the pan and heat for 2 - 3 minutes or until the sauce slightly thickens. Add the prawns back into the pan and mix into the sauce. Allow to simmer for 1 - 2 minutes then remove from the heat, garnish with parsley and serve.
