Easy Tomato Pasta Sauce with Herbs

Ingredients

  • 1 small onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
  • 3 tablespoon tomato puree
  • 500g passata
  • 200g tinned chopped plum tomatoes
  • 40g soft brown sugar
  • 1 lemon (juiced)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tsps onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 tsps dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  • Chop the onion and garlic into slices and preheat a saucepan on a low heat. Add the sunflower oil then add the chopped onion and garlic to the pan. Sauté on a low heat until the onions and garlic are slightly brown.
  • Add the tomato puree and stir until combined. Pour in the passata and the chopped plum tomatoes and continue to stir gently. Add the brown sugar and lemon juice and stir until the sugar dissolves. Add the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, dried basil, soy sauce and olive oil then stir until combined. Leave to simmer for 10 minutes and serve.
