Low Carb Cheese Burger in a Bowl

A low carb salad that contains all the flavours of a cheeseburger without the bun.

Ingredients

For the Meat

  • 1 teaspoon sunflower oil
  • 150g raw beef mince 5%
  • ½ small onion (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder/granules
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder/granules
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 20ml water

For the Salad

  • 160g romaine lettuce (chopped)
  • 1 small red onion (chopped)
  • 1 medium avocado (sliced)
  • 100g cherry tomatoes (halved)
  • 80g gherkins/pickles (sliced)
  • 30g cheddar cheese (grated)

Instructions

  • To a frying pan, add the sunflower oil and place the frying pan on a medium heat. Once heated add the beef mince and onions. Begin to break up the mince continuously and stir until there is no pink left on the meat.
  • Add the onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, paprika and soy sauce then mix them into the meat while it is still on a medium heat. Add the water to the pan and reduce to a low heat. Leave to simmer for 20 minutes or until the water has dried out then turn of the heat and set aside while you make the salad.
  • Place all the salad ingredients together in the serving bowls then spoon the minced beef onto the salad, sprinkle on the cheese and any dressing you desire then enjoy.
